i’m back — yay!
I’m back from England and it honestly feels like I’ve been gone for months — in a good way though.
I went to see: Brighton, Canterbury, Dover, Bath, Oxford, Henley, Reading, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and Bournemouth and then London to visit the fam for the rest of the week.
I had such a fantastic time and it was honestly my best trip over there (the fourth one’s the charm).
I saw Troilus and Cressida in Stratford, which was pretty cool — as well as Shakespeare’s birthplace, and final resting place, Ann Hathaway’s cottage, etc. Pretty cool also because I went to Canterbury first and that’s where Christopher Marlowe was born.
There’s an exhibit in Nash’s house with the first folio (one copy of it anyway) and other collections of his work — as well as a complete works that was handed around prison and has famous signatures and passages highlighted by men such as Nelson Mandela. Very cool to see.
I LOVED Oxford and wish I could have gone to school there — maybe it’s not too late?
In London I got to see great-Auntie Dorothy, dear cousin Olive (my grandmother’s half cousin) and I stayed with her grandchild Mark, and his girlfriend Jen — both very good friends and I’m so glad we’ve found each other! I just wish we could hang out more than once evey year or two.
With them I went to a family dinner and clubs, and then to a comedy show the next night and yesterday (god, was it only yesterday?) we went to Buckingham Palace. As in we went INSIDE Buckingham Palace and it was SO cool! We finished off the day yesterday with greyhound races — I’ve never been to the races before and I bet on 12 races and picked the winner 5 times! Maybe that stats course did pay off in the end…
And now I’m back and am actually ready to be back, which is a nice feeling.
