an anti-stupidity pill?

Taraden blogged about an “anti-stupidity” pill — now I wonder how this fits in with the fact that I don’t believe in over-medication, but I hate stupid people? At the same time, I also believe in survival of the fittest and that sadly, we need stupidity to make the world go round — how boring it would be without idiots. Now, we are all stupid in our own right from time to time, and often collectively, but I don’t know that I’d like a world where this could be reduced..I’m kind of surprised at myself.

2045

I received updated pension information at work today and this number jumped, almost screaming from the page: 2045.

Confused, I starred at it for a moment.

Perplexed, I then realized that this surreal, futuristic number is indeed indicating a year.

 I scanned across the row to cross-reference this odd looking number to see that it’s the projected year of retirement.

It doesn’t seem possible. Plausible either — the number looks fictitious and is still haunting a corner of my brain.

the horse whisperer

I just finished listening to The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans and I did enjoy it. I didn’t love, love it, but am glad I didn’t see the movie (except for the opening accident scene) because I surely would have been in tears. I wasn’t, however, overly attached to any of the characters except, maybe Tom Booker and I’m not really sure how I feel about the whole affair thing — it sounded so lovely and yet so matter of fact, which I guess it was. Maybe that’s why I liked Annie and Tom together, because it was just meant to happen that way. Nothing more.
