There was a link on bookninja to this article about the list of banned books that has been around since the 1500s and the fact that it was officially abolished 40 years ago this week.

If you're interested in banned books, check out Freedom to Read Week. The Book and Periodical Council also have a Challenged Books List that you should check out. Have a look at the list of books that were banned in Canada…how many of them have you read?

From this list, so far I've read:

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
Foxfire by Joyce Carol Oats
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
R.L Stine's Fear Street books (albeit a long time ago)
