last election post for this round, another minority?

Posted on January 23, 2006. Filed under: Politics |

So, what do you think is going to happen? Minority or majority? Will Quebec stay? Oh, the drama…the suspense… Make sure you get out there and vote tonight. I had to pre-vote because of class tonight, which I’ve got to get to right now. So if there’s a line, wait in it, even if you’re going to spoil your ballot, it’s better than doing nothing at all.

the health system that almost works

Posted on January 23, 2006. Filed under: Uncategorized |

I finally heard back from the GI about another specialist appointment they were going to set up for me (I’ve been waiting since November)…and it’s been set for April! APRIL! Are you kidding me? Sure am glad that the dyingness is getting better through naturopathic remedies, because if I had to wait for the “real” doctors to pay attention, I’d likely be dead. Is it unfair to assume that this should be dealt with in a reasonable amount of time? I mean, come on, from NOVEMBER to APRIL!?!

i’m a student, yet again (just can’t get away)

Posted on January 23, 2006. Filed under: Uncategorized |

After a BA and a MA, I’m now starting a certificate — but this one’s in Project Management — much more practical, right? It’s weird though… there’s this weird feeling I get when stepping back onto a campus. It’s like I’m me again (apparently I’ve been MIA for quite a while).

i swallowed the gum that killed me

Okay, not exactly, but can a person with candida swallow gum? I guess it’s too late to get it back but what really happens to it down in the digestive tract? Are the urban myths true? Does it really hang around for seven years? Why is it always seven? Seven years bad luck for breaking a mirror… Okay, so I can’t think of any more superstitions with seven in them, but I’m sure there are some… Any come to mind?

one more day with the liberals

Well…what do you say? Do you think everyone will be scared at the last minute and vote against the evil Harper empire? The best part of this whole election ordeal is the fact that as soon as they’re in there and start behaving like morons everyone will complain even more than they’ve been complaing about the Gomery report and the scandal. What administration hasn’t had scandal!? Please, please, please, don’t vote for Harper. Vote for absolutely anyone else, just get a minority in there; that’s all I really hope for. Then they’ll be kept in check.

On Air Farce the other night Gilles Duceppe won the election and it was SO funny. The first line of his speech was something like “what the hell happened?” and he had a look of utter shock. It was so funny!

crash really was the best film

Posted on January 23, 2006. Filed under: Uncategorized |

Has everyone seen the movie Crash? If not, it is a definite must-see. A friend of mine thinks it should be seen in every high school across the USA followed by a viewing of American History X. And I agree. The portrayal of racism and anger and the continuous cycles of blantant ignorance and lack of understanding that inevitably leads to violence is shocking and absolutely perfect. It really approaches the issue in an accessible but brilliant manner and the plot is just amazing and the characters are all inter-connected. Has anyone else seen it?
