msn deleted my contact list
I don’t use msn at all any more really — but I just decided to log on and my entire contact list was gone! Empty! Reminiscient of the time I went into my gmail and any email sent from Sept 2005 – the current date (this was about 6 months ago now) was gone. Not archived — just gone. Some important messages. I’m all for purging and weeding things out, but on my own time thank you very much. I’m not impressed.

Maybe if you sign into hotmail and re-export your list? Or re-import from MSN? I haven’t tried either, but I just noticed that hotmail was “reserving an account” for me — even though I’ve had one for years — probably because I don’t use it very often, if ever.

Hey, i signed into my msn on a friends laptop..and everyone on my contact list had vanished. so i tried again at home and for a second the contacts all were there..but disappeared again a second later.. if anyone knows whats happening and how to fix it. please message me at nate-n@hotmail.com and let me know how to recover my list..cause theres people that i knew from back in the day. and the only way we keep in touch is with msn.

Depending on how you deleted them, yes. If you click the Tools menu, then Options, then
Privacy tab, you should see them all in the Allow/Blocked lists. Simply right-click each and
choose “Add to Contacts.

YOU ARE A MIRACLE WORKER. that solved my problem. i checked msn one day to find out there were no contacts, and there was message saying ”you have no contacts yet”. I was freaking out then I saw this and went to allow/block list and added everyone again.

No man, same thing is happening to me too. It’s suspect. I did the options -> privacy -> add to list thing and it says that everyone is added to my list but they don’t show up on my screen. And when I add them manually everyone is shown offline (even when I confirm over the phone that they are online). It’s all fishy.
Also at work, my contact list is intact and everyone is online.

Ok, I’ve got the same problem Phil has as well – its not that the contacts are GONE – its just that I can’t see them. Let me explain:
For quite some time, whenever I logged into MSN, all my contacts appeared offline – even if I made a phone-check that they were online.
And then, all of a sudden, my contacts list disappeared.
I don’t mean to say that my CONTACTS disappeared, that I have a blank column under the contact-search bar, or that my “friends” and similar groups are empty. I mean to say that the whole CONTACTLIST is gone – including the search bar and the group-headings.
On my screen, there is only the top and bottom wallpaper (including my username, the “status” and the “share a quick message” tab, and in between, the little screen that says “whats new”. Nothing else. I can’t even look contacts up.
Yet, they are still there; if I do the options -> privacy -> add to list thing, they are all already listed as “added”. Also, if I click on Contacts -> edit contacts, I can see all of them (funnily including their status). I just can’t contact them, because on that menu, you can only edit, not contact. I’m also failing at getting that list back on my screen in any way…
Except using a different computer. If I do that, everything’s back to normal…
So, if anyone is ready to help, that would be absolutely amazing…
